Senior QA Engineer
Own quality across enterprise data and AI products, build test automation frameworks, define QA processes, and ensure every release meets production-grade reliability standards.
About the role
We're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take ownership of quality assurance across our enterprise platform products, Go-based APIs that orchestrate data infrastructure including metadata management, ingestion pipelines, transformation layers, AI agent workflows, and automation tooling.
You'll work at the intersection of manual testing, automated test frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure our distributed systems meet the highest reliability standards. This role is critical: you'll define how we test complex multi-service integrations, API contracts, and end-to-end data workflows across a Kubernetes-deployed stack.
This is a high-impact role for someone who is passionate about building robust test infrastructure, not just running tests, someone who thinks in terms of test strategies, coverage gaps, and quality culture across the engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning
- Define and own the end-to-end QA strategy for enterprise platform products, covering API testing, integration testing, and system-level validation.
- Create and maintain comprehensive test plans and test case repositories for all platform subsystems (ingestion, orchestration, metadata, auth, MCP).
- Establish test coverage goals and quality gates for CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
- Conduct risk-based testing assessments to prioritize test efforts across microservices and integration points.
- Drive shift-left testing practices by embedding quality checkpoints early in the development lifecycle.
Test Automation & Frameworks
- Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright and Cypress for frontend and end-to-end scenarios.
- Develop API-level automated tests for Go-based REST endpoints using Go testing frameworks (testify) and custom HTTP clients.
- Create integration test harnesses for multi-service scenarios spanning metadata engines, ingestion tools, orchestration platforms, and identity providers.
- Implement contract testing between control plane APIs and managed subsystems using OpenAPI specs.
- Design and maintain Docker-based test environments that mirror production infrastructure for reliable test execution.
Manual Testing & Exploratory QA
- Perform thorough manual testing of new features, API endpoints, and complex multi-step orchestration workflows.
- Execute exploratory testing sessions focused on edge cases in distributed system interactions (network failures, timeout handling, auth flows).
- Validate data pipeline integrity across ingestion, transformation, and metadata propagation workflows.
- Test security-sensitive flows including OIDC/JWT authentication, RBAC, and token lifecycle management.
- Document and triage bugs with clear reproduction steps, severity assessments, and root-cause hypotheses.
CI/CD & Quality Infrastructure
- Integrate automated test suites into GitHub Actions pipelines with parallelized execution and clear reporting.
- Monitor and maintain test stability, identify and fix flaky tests, optimize test execution times.
- Build test reporting dashboards showing coverage metrics, pass/fail trends, and quality KPIs.
- Contribute to pre-commit hooks and code quality gates (linting, static analysis, security scanning).
- Collaborate with DevOps to ensure test environments (Docker Compose, Kubernetes) are reproducible and fast to provision.
Qualifications
Must-Have Technical Expertise
- 5+ years of professional QA engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead QA role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Cypress for UI and end-to-end test automation.
- Proficiency in API testing, designing test suites for RESTful APIs, validating response schemas, and testing auth flows.
- Experience with test case management tools and structured approaches to test documentation and traceability.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar) and integrating automated tests into them.
- Comfortable reading and writing test code in Go and/or TypeScript.
Platform & Infrastructure Skills
- Experience testing distributed systems, microservices architectures, or multi-service platforms.
- Familiarity with Docker and container-based test environments.
- Experience testing applications that integrate with databases (PostgreSQL), message brokers, or external APIs.
- Understanding of authentication/authorization testing (OAuth, OIDC, JWT, RBAC).
- Experience with performance/load testing tools (k6, Locust, or similar) is a strong plus.
Preferred/Bonus
- Experience with data platform or ETL pipeline testing (Airbyte, Dagster, dbt, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger specs and contract testing approaches (Pact or similar).
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and testing applications in K8s environments.
- Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) for monitoring test environments.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-based applications and testing non-deterministic system outputs.
- Strong Vietnamese and English communication skills.
